Princess Gabrielle (again)

Hallo! Instead of several different pictures, today Bookkeeper would like to show you a princess Gabrielle collage! We have only have one whole princess. Then there's another half princess... and nine disembodied heads.

And that's what Bookkeeper's done this week. Since the post is already finished, why don't you go buy yourself an ice cream cone or something?

No Pink Princesses

Hallo everyone! Everyone who reads this blog, anyways. Those who don't read The Blog aren't worth mentioning.

See the little "Blog Archive" gadget to your right? You should look at May 2011 sometime. Then come back and compare the princess pictures.

The bookkeeper really can draw younger characters, despite what she thought in May. Supposedly this is the same character. Besides growing four years younger in the last three months, the biggest change for princess Gabrielle has been an encounter with brown hair dye.

Judging by her cheesy grin, she's just fine. The pretty dress Gabrielle's wearing looks nothing like the one she wore in the last picture Bookkeeper drew - it really bugged Bookkeeper that her main character had a dress that didn't even look medieval!

This week Bookkeeper also drew some disembodied heads.

*creepy voice* WOooooOOOOooOOooOOooo...

You should recognize the boy as the other character Bookkeeper drew from her story. Bookkeeper decided that his first look was too supernatural for a character she meant to look boyish.

New topic! Today (not just a vague "this week") the bookkeeper bought some cool stuff to help with her disorganization:

Oh no. Whenever Bookkeeper sees other people gushing about the cool stuff they just got (complete with a picture of the stuff fanned out) she always thinks "No...not another one..."

So why did she put this picture up? Because she just loves to torture you.

WARNING: This picture is meant to fool you. The bookkeeper bought this stuff today, but for the sake of making it look interesting, she put a picture that she drew Wednesday on the clipboard.

Spiffy. Just when you thought Bookkeeper had left the subject of her graphic novel. In the paragraph above, the bookkeeper misspelled clipboard as "blipboard" and caught it just before publishing her post. Just thought you'd like to know.

Well, Summer is pretty much over and the grim truth remains that it's time for school to start. This is not helped by the advertisement on TV where talking breakfast cereal bedecked in party hats exclaims "Happy School Year!"

The last thing Bookkeeper needs to hear is that the school year is going to be one big holiday, ten months long. Remind her never to trust the opinions of breakfast cereal.

Now, the bookkeeper thinks school is pretty good as long as she doesn't have illusions that it's gonna be a big party. This school year Bookkeeper is focusing on art and guess what her big project is? The now infamous graphic novel.

Now, Bookkeeper isn't very experienced in writing fantasy and the draft of her story isn't very good, but she's still convinced there's a great idea in there somewhere.

In order to turn it into a real story (a real fantasy, hah) the bookkeeper is now developing it with her One Year Adventure Novel "Other Worlds" workbook this year. Since you might not have clicked on the linked words for more information, the bookkeeper will tell you that OYAN Other Worlds is a curriculum about writing fantasy and science fiction. Forget about the "how to write" books at your library - this is the real thing and you have the bookkeeper's word on it.

Since her ultimate goal is writing not just a novel but a graphic novel, Bookkeeper will be adding drawing, storyboarding, and thumbnailing to the workbook exercises so hopefully she'll get the hang of it.

Maybe you're all wondering what happened to that picture the bookkeeper was working on for her brother. Well... since she's completely put off finishing it, let's just forget you brought up the topic, okay?

See y'all later!

Aw3som3!

Guess what? The bookkeeper's blog now has three (count 'em, three) watchers!

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the picture above. So. Bookkeeper did some sketches during her vacation including the unique candle holder you just saw.

In an attempt to broaden her art skills, Bookkeeper spend about a week trying to copy Dr. Suess's art style. She's not putting those pictures up on her blog though, because she practiced by drawing pictures of her friends and doesn't want to put those pictures up. (In an effort to be vague, the bookkeeper refers to just about all of her random acquaintances as as "friends" on this blog. If you want to be Bookkeeper's friend, just hang around long enough to get mentioned.)

Anywho, you can see some Suess influence has seeped into Bookkeeper's style, and it's obvious in the candle holder picture. Just look at those sleep-deprived eyes and the carefree shading. *emotional sniffle* It's lovely.

Not everything the bookkeeper draws is lovely, though. Just sayin'.

Oh, how cool! A superhero! This girl is based on a character belonging Bookkeeper's friend and cousin, who also happens to be an artist.

Bookkeeper loves her artist friends. Artists all seem to have the same problems, it's weird...

And that's it for the vacation drawings. But we're not done yet! Bookkeeper's been drawing this week, too.

Way back in May the bookkeeper mentioned that she was trying to write a graphic novel. Bet you thought she'd given up, hm?

Well, she's still working on it. In case you were dying of curiosity, it's a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin (rewriting the Brothers Grimm = unoriginal originality). She even got a book of all Grimm's fairy tales from the library for inspiration. Wow.

If you ever get the chance to read all of Grimm's fairy tales, don't. Er. Like the one with the roasted chicken that turns into a giant face-eating toad. Without using a pun on "Grimm", the bookkeeper can definitely say that a lot of the stories had bits that were

(adj.) Bleak, forbidding, morbid (antonym: pleasant)

This week the bookkeeper realized she's still not very good at drawing scenery with perspective. Quick, someone give this girl a pencil, she's got a graphic novel to draw!

Thank you.

Bookkeeper is going to focus quite a bit on trying to draw some pictures with scenery in the background. Starting with a picture of a mill, but you already saw that. Bookkeeper's brother says the miller looks like Caesar. There goes that character...

Here's another picture with some scenery, though it's a work-in-progress:

This is being drawn special for Bookkeeper's brother. The boy with the sword is supposed to be Bookkeeper's brother, and no, Bookkeeper is not going to be a stereotyped older sister and say her brother acts more like a minotaur.

Instead she's going to take this time to say that her lil' brother is a cool kid who knows a thing or two about fantasy monsters and how to deal with them, and what's more, he's just generally fun to hang out with. (He's a friend now too, for being mentioned in the blog.) Are you jealous of Bookkeeper yet? If not, we can move on to describing how incredibly awesome the other members of her family are...

Happy Birthday to Bookkeeper!

Bookkeeper is back from her vacation! Bookkeeper recently had her latest birthday. Also last week, she got sick on Saturday. Again. She must have some sort of disease specifically meant to stop her from posting on her blog.

Anywho, isn't the picture Bookkeeper put at the top of today's post cute? She actually drew it months and months ago during a family reunion. Then she colored it on the computer and forgot about it.

Finally on her birthday, the bookkeeper's mom reminded her about that picture...

He's real! The cute lil' guy is real! Here's photo evidence!

If that's not the cutest thing you've ever seen, than you can just keep it to yourself. Bookkeeper had to stare at the thing for several minutes just to be sure it was real.

Bookkeeper's dear mother tells her it was made by someone on craftster.org (whoever you are, you're so talented!). Now Bookkeeper is stuck with the task of deciding a name for the lil' guy. Any suggestions?

Pray that the bookkeeper doesn't get sick again so that next week she can put up some pictures she drew during her vacation.
